Request to Parents Children with Cochlear Implant 3-6 Years

Dear Parents,

part of a research project conducted by the 'Institute of Science and Technology of Cognition - CNR, Rome, in collaboration with the National Deaf Onlus (grant "Daniela Fabbri" ), we are collecting data on language and communication skills of children with cochlear implant in preschool (3 to 6 years). It is important to us

the active participation of families, so please contact us if you are interested in taking part in the project. We would be interested to contact the parents instead of children with cochlear implants who live in these regions: Veneto, Trentino, Emilia Romagna, Tuscany and Lazio. The data collection period will presumably from February to June 2011.

You will be asked to fill out some questionnaires about your child's development. For some of you will also be asked to consent to propose simple tests related to child cognitive development, communication and language.
The evidence will be offered to children are made of colored materials and photographs are attractive and pleasant for most of the children. We guarantee that if the child will not want to start a test or demonstrated an intention not to want to accomplish, it will not be proposal. If your child show signs of fatigue or discomfort, the observation session will be interrupted and resumed at a later date or, where appropriate, within two or three days.

In accordance with Legislative Decree 196/2003, we guarantee the absolute confidentiality of all information we collect and we assure you that all information will be stored anonymously and under our responsibility within the laboratories conducting the study.
